The feeder is about 4 inches off the ground. and they really pick that water bottle thing up QUICK its shinny and they peck it... funny thing is there are some that "get" it quicker and I have one girl that figured out that if you shover your beak in the tuybe you dont have to do anything the water runs right down your throat! That is my easter egger Bunny she is SOOOOO smart!!!! then I got the OEGB/mix and the foster chick they are the blondes!!!! they are a work in progress....

BTW that feeder is one I got off this website.... I just googled homemade chicken feeder and it came up... it is basically a rappid x feeder for rabbits but made for the chickens!!! smart if ya ask me!

Hi Rebecca,
You have black hens! Have they laid eggs (pink, green or blue) for you yet? My green/pink layers are exactly that type of bird:) I love their beards and green sheen on the black.

I never thought of building an outdoor ramp for the inside, I have always put different height perches inside, kind of like a jungle gym and if I can't get a perch straight across from one wall to the other, I use a corner for three perches, staggered so no one will be poo'd on while they are sleeping.

Its nice to see the orphan annie fitting in so well:) You and your DH have been busy and it looks like the hens approve! Cheryl

that particular bird is only 20 weeks old she should start laying soon the person I got her from said she would prolly lay blue. we will see!!! Oh I really Like Bunny too. She is my favorite Chicken right now she is super smart and is the one I was talking about in the post above about figuring out the water bottle. she totally gets it..... its funny to watch them drink from the bottle too...

that was the husbands thing he wanted to build that ramp and I said if he wanted to do it by gosh he could do it!!!

She is fitting in fine, except she thinks she is a people and not a chicken.. she wants to come out as soon as she hears us walking to the barn.... silly chicken....

I don't understand it.. why dont byc's chickens poop like mine do. If i had that cooop and 1 hour it would be filled with poop. the walls, the roost, the feeder etc etc on and on.. my birds poop more than Ya';ll evidently. if i kept a coop tht clean id have to live in it and be cleaning every second of every day..
why wont someone be brave enough and man enough to show it likeit really is?
aint any of ya'll gals got a hair on ur boob?

wonder if that water bottles nipple would fit onto a milk jug? id be filling it every 1 5 minutes.. my hens drink a lot of water..

DUDE you made me laugh!!!!! its only so nice cause its NEW!!!! I was wondering do you think your birds DRINK allot of water or WASTE it? and if they do drink it do you think there is any correlation between the water drinkage and the POOP level?

I had a different water container and My birds wasted WAY more than they drank. I have found this is a much easier way to keep the coop cleaner they really dont waste much water at all with the bottles!!! and I put a litter pan under it with pine stall it collects what ever drips. keeps it dry!

BTW the bold line REALLY made me laugh!!!!

Oh well off to the airport to deliver my honey do/Hubby......he will be gone for 3 weeks!!!!
