I take it their crops were back down this morning? Hopefully they will be healthy and happy - good luck with them!

If the feed is truly just corn and soybean I would be concerned that the chicks are not getting a proper balanced diet. I used chick starter/grower for my baby chicks in spring 2009 and will use it again in spring 2010 when I get my next batch of chicks. I personally would not try to save a few dollars on feed for the baby chicks. I want to provide the best food I can to get the chicks off to a good start. My birds all appear to be very healthy and happy.

Maybe some others will jump in here that have a better knowledge of feed.
