Cool coop! Looks like the perfect size for your chickies! Great idea for the roof, that will be great for sunshine in the winter. Chickens are wonderful for the kids, ours do most of the chicken care, with supervision of course!

My husband also put the chicken wire up BEFORE I stained! If I was to do it again, and was going to stain the whole thing, I would stain the wood even before he built it. It would be soooo much easier! The only thing I would have to stain later is the ends that he cut. This is especially nice if you know how much wood you are going to use and can stain days in advance so it can dry.
I'm not too keen on the wheels and how it works but my hubby says it's fine. Not sure how to correct it though.

With the clear roof, we can put the chicken coop close to our back deck and the kids can see INSIDE the coop from the roof. They love it.....FREE ENTERTAINMENT!!

Thanks for your words of encouragement everyone!! The chickens are doing well......and no cock-a-doodle-doing yet!! I think they may all be girls!! Yeah!!

We have actually made a new coop but the coop was really perfect. We have had many, many people tell us how nice it looked. I love everything about it except it's tough to move so really as a "chicken tractor" it needed some other design on the bottom. When my hubby moves it, there are not many "nice" words coming out of his mouth....

I'd recommend this to anyone with 3-5 chickens.
