I saw these at publix today and knew I had to tell yall about them. Guess how much they are? 6.00 a dozen!!!! I was just amazed. You can check out the site and see if you think they are worth it...im not sure I buy it. I know im not buying it for 6.00 a dozen...good grief

I saw cage free brown eggs for $5 the other day. I gave my hens a treat when I got home. I think if you do not include the fact that I also feed 4 geese and 6 roosters( 4 will be dinner) I pay roughly $2 a dozen for my eggs. If I deduct what my non usefull birds consume its considerably lower.

It says that their hens can exit to the outdoors. I'll bet you five bucks they don't. Commercial birds are so habituated to being inside a cramped house they are afraid to go out. They talk about how much they've improved their houses, what they don't talk about is reducing the number of hens per house.

No thanks. I'll stick with my backyard birds.

They are barn confined birds. They live in well ventilated barns 24/7 with the added bonus of, hey, they can go out on the fully screened in 'porch' in good weather, whenever the door or whatever is opened to that area. What's so nice and special about all of that???? No, thanks!

Kinda reminds me of "Rosie" in Michael Pollan's book, "The Omnivores Dilemma". Free range (commercial) broilers. What they don't tell you about their so-called free range birds is that they don't let them out for the first five weeks of their lives, due to the fear of their contracting an illness. They do let them out after that; for the two weeks before they slaughter them.

Have you read Michael Pollan's book?

Out of the 8 commercial birds I still have, only two will go outside willingly. I'm kinda proud of those two. They've even taught themselves how to use the ramp. But it's weird. I've had them since they were 3 weeks old and they still have an aversion to being outside.

Its worth it
