Ya it sure looks like he's gettin it done, but the hens arent laying at all. Probly to cold. If they do I'm gonna try and put them in the bator.

I read somewhere here that someone kept their Cornish crosses up on their legs despite their weight by putting electrolites in the water. Are you the one? Is that how you kept these monsters up and moving?

What is RR food? Sorry. I'm a total still-chickenless beginner.

No, that wasnt me. They eat game bird mix now and lots o scraps. They free ranged as young chickens thats the only thing I can think of why they are still walking around. As far as RR food I'm not sure what that is.

it would be great if you did get some chicks out of their mating - they must have good genes to be doing so well at that age.
we processed ours at 8 weeks, and some of them were not standing/walking to well then. i was just praying that they made it to the butcher ok.

I think I read on here that if you hatch eggs from broiler chickens the chicks wont be broilers. Is this correct, and if so what would they be?

Thanks!
Chef

You'd probably end up with some big some small, and uneven growth rates Broilers are a special line of rocks crossed with a special line of cornish, to get a first gen meat bird that you can buy that grows like mad. The second gen will be less predictible.

Simply, broilers are a mutt, and their offspring will also be mutts.

Oh I know there mut's no doubt. Has anyone on here hatched out any second gen broiler birds? I know its not common because they rarely live this long. Just curious.
