No it wont stay that dark, but this hen her eggs stay dark longer then the others do.

When the hens reach about 4 or 5 year old, they start to get the white spots, the older they get, the more white they turn. The drakes should stay black, but I have a dark that has a couple of small white spots on him.

Terrie----------------thats a cool looking egg, I like it alot. Are you sure the duck isnt pure? She looks pure to me and I have one that lays eggs similar to yours and she is pure. They do turn white as they age, so you may have a pure one and think she is a mix with the pekin................

Ed, could be.
Marlys was a rescue I took in when I was working with the Duck Rescue Network. I am not sure of her age and I was told she was a cross. She is my pretty one no matter what!

She is a brute, if you ask me. She just maybe a pure one. If she is pure, then she would have to be about 4 or so old, cause they start to get their white when they reach 4. I wouldnt think a cross would produce that color of an egg. Good luck with her, keep her safe..................
