The feed store today had a whole bunch of different ducks today and I just had to have this call duck. He looks to have a typical mallard coloring but with blue lacing on his back and a very deep red chest. The color almost reminds me of a blue laced chicken. He is very small, about half the size of my adult mallard females. Any ideas on what this color might be called? I can't wait until he grows up and gets his green head.

Yes, it's a blue, i own one.

er.. let me see if i can find a good pic of Bonnie, she's only 2mth old. She is on the left. I will see if i can get a better pic!

some more

She's in the background, you can see the blue better with this outside shot.

one more lol yes, basically a reversed shot

he's a classic Mallard colouring so grey/gray however they spell it, they are tiny, her being the most so, i wouldn't say either weigh 2lbs...

I knew I'd seen that color before, so pretty

They are so pretty! I went back and got a call duckling a few days after and it has turned out to be a blue as well. I am very excited because I love this color.

I will post some pics when the boy gets his green head! He just started flying and is so pretty to watch. I went back to the feed store and they had a female of the same color! So of course I had to get her. I will definitely be breeding them this spring.
