Check your Feed bag tags UPDATED

I know a guy who raises Old English Game Bantams (about the smallest chicken there is), and he only feeds pellets, so I really don't think there is a problem with it.

I really think you should change the title, you are bashing a name brand for no reason. Obviously you got pellets instead of crumbles. How is that Purina's fault? There is nothing wrong with Layena.

pellets look like a corn based rabbit pellet. Crumbles are like coarse dirt with larger chuckns of corn in them.

thanks... (wow I feel stupid)...LOL I feed crumbles... I just walk into the feed store and ask for layena... and then some guy throws it in the back of the van.. DH takes it from the van and loads the bin... so i really never see the bag or label

Agreed.

I have always used the pellets. This last bag is pretty broken up. I guess I got the 50/50 mix.

What about seramas? Anybody feed pellets that has them? I've always gotten crumbles because my seramas have been in with the big guys, and I was worried the pellets would be too big.

I agree with others, my adult, and juvenal bantams have no issues eating the pellets. The babies have some troubles, but they should be eating the starter, or grower. (Mine try to eat it when they are free-ranging, they hop right into the big birds feeder) However, if you are worried you can wet down the food with warm water.
I never had the problem with the crumbles or pellets, but I would imagine it would be on your bag, or recite. I bought Layena once, and my birds hated it?
Good luck,
