Ok tried to follow directions to check humidity levels for my hygrometers. Did I do it wrong? Been a bit over 8 hrs. One reads 59, one 60 and the govee 64.2. Did I mess up or are they that far off?

I did 1 tbsp salt, 1/2 tbsp water poured off extra water. But is my container too big?

When I had them in the incubator with it running they were all within 1 of the incubator and each other.

I posted this over on the NR 360 threads but will answer here too. :) (you never know how search will work for someone else, later.)

Looks like too much water to me, but that "should" cause it to read higher, not lower. [with more water, it takes the salt slurry longer to stabilize at 75%] When I tested my hygrometers, I used only a plastic bottle-cap to hold the salt slurry. The other thing that might be a problem is the meters have openings that are used to sample the air. Be sure that the openings are not obstructed with the plastic bag. My guess would be that the hygrometers are getting good air flow.

This is how I test the hygrometers that have the openings for air on the back. By propping the meter on the salt-containing lid I ensure adequate air flow for both the meter and the salt slurry. (Please pardon the blurriness of the meter-- my phone's focus always gets the bag, not the display.)

Thank you. The one I read said a big freezer bag so my bag was huge. Lol will try a smaller cap, smaller bag and prop them. 😀

@TommieW

this will show what it should look like and a bit of information. where mine stood on its own I just stood it up next to the slurry and it was fine. I didn't have to lean it on the cap.
