Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Missed the check in message from April - we're doing OK! Struggling with a mice problem in the indoor coop and am going to start using a feeder that opens when the ladies step on it versus having the feed out in the garage at all times. Also none of them have laid for a month or so, they're molting and quiet and I'm trying not to freak out that they're sick - going to do a deep clean soon just to make myself feel better. Cheers!

Mice are a problem here too this time of year. We have 8 outdoor cats now that help to keep the population under control.

Mine are molting too. so many feathers, and barely any eggs.

We've been super busy around here. We thought that we had it all figured by now. Our girls are older hens now. Two of them are 7 years old. The youngest ones are 4/5 years old. Last week I noticed that one of the girls looked bloated and lethargic. She seemed to be suffering so I put her down. I blamed it on her old age. Today I find another girl in the same condition. She is 6 years old and a barred rock. Can you give any information/help? I still have ten other girls.

So sorry you are having troubles. Most of my chickens live anywhere from 4-8 years. I would post your question in the emergency forum. Hopefully someone can give you some advice.

Aw I missed this in April too. I lurk without signing in most of the time :idunno

Now that its the end of October, the chickens get to enter the garden! Its on my north side and gets more sun in winter, and theyre free to any leftover herbs that i didnt harvest!

The Wyandottes have claimed their own spot in the garden too. Their other sisters are allowed, but really, this is the Dotte Spot!!

The hens look like they are very happy!

Been ridiculously busy, as everyone else has been. And I'm terrible at keeping up with social media of any kind. I'm hoping to do better, but the holidays are coming, so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hope everyone else is doing well!
Glad you are doing okay. The holidays are quickly approaching. Seems time keeps flying by.
