Don't let the Avian flu discourage you. Its something that has been around, and will be in the future.but the bird flu is kinda worrying me about having them. So I guess I'm just in a waiting hold.
You do sound busy. Waiting is okay. It gives you time to plan and dream.I know this was an old post (that's still going!), but I've been clearing out my emails today lol
So for my check-in update, it's not as fun as others. I still don't have chickens. Still no coop built, not for lack of trying. I live with others who like to hoard and claim things like wood and claim to want to do things with it and it just doesn't happens
. Last year was kind of a nightmare too with stuff happening (sudden death, illnesses, job loss) so yeah...
I've been looking to move across country, but we have to wait on inheritance to come in to see what we can work with first. If it's a house, and it's not in a city/town ordnance area where we can have chickens, I'm hoping to at least have a couple in a small coop, but the bird flu is kinda worrying me about having them. So I guess I'm just in a waiting hold.
I am sorry for the losses this year!I know this was an old post (that's still going!), but I've been clearing out my emails today lol

Welcome back. So very sorry about the rat troubles. They are quite destructive. Hopefully your new upcoming flock does well.Back from the dead! Only just shy of a year late to this reply.
We unfortunately lost our entire flock in what seems to be an unheard of, traumatic event. Rats.
Its taken a long time but Im ready for another go at it. My hunt is on for LARGE FOWL modern game. I think I found some!!
Hi all, happy belated New Year! Have been struggling for more than 8 months with ladies who wouldn’t lay. At first I thought it was them just molting, and then the change of weather in GA, but after a near complete strike with all 7 of them, knew it must be SOMETHING. They weren’t laying outside the coop/nest boxes (I checked our small yard), and they are only three years old. Switched their food from Flockshield to Kalmbach a week ago and have three girls laying. Not sure if others had this experience but wanted to share it. (This is not an endorsement of food types, but I was trying EVERYTHINGWe have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.
If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to.
(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Good to hear you got em back to laying, especially now with the cost of eggs.Hi all, happy belated New Year! Have been struggling for more than 8 months with ladies who wouldn’t lay.
