Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

It has been a while! Hello to everyone!
In the past 5 yrs I have proven chicken math is real and also inherited a quinea that came up the driveway last fall. šŸ˜…
It is good to hear your update!

Are you going to get more Guinea hens

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
First time in and responding.
Have to beautiful hens named Rebekah and Babette. A young roister named Cluck Norris. Got hens last April and Cluck 2 weeks ago.
Theyrspoiled. Too the max. Patio for home and a 24 x 40 fy outdoor garden with 50% shade netting at a 8 ft. Love to hear my rooster crow and dance his ā€œlets get it onā€ jig around the hens every morning! Still new at this.

I hope you are getting plenty of eggs

Oh, it's so nice to feel welcome from such friendly folk. (although I've been scratching here, in the background, looking for information for many years now!).

I'm in France and last week lost eight hens, they were just bitten in their necks (a martin?) and left to die. Horrible.

I hope to get a few new, ready to lay pullets, but my neighbour suspects that the rooster will aggressively over-attend to them. How can one avoid that problem?
Thanks and greetings to all,
Jane

Hi all! Been a while since I've posted, but we are going on year 8 of raising chickens.

We hatched a black Australorp roo last year, and hope to hatch some of our own eggs this spring. We like to hatch eggs with a broody hen, and none have gone broody yet this spring.

Looking forward to seeing what black Australorp + our variety of random breeds of hens will bring us 😊

So.... it's been forever since I have been on here. Life took a huge dump on us but we are climbing up and can see the daylight! We didn't have chickens for a few years until yesterday. Rescued 6 hens from a hoarding situation. They look so awful. Tried to give them fresh fruit as treats, they haven't touched any of it. Would love to have room to take more to love on. I'll be making a post about them soon. I need help on id-ing some and ideas to better care for them. Fingers crossed they bounce back easily!
