Back in the forums after being away. No longer raising quail. We do meat chickens each year. This year we decided to try laying hens, which brought me back to the forums to find how how to make them lay in nesting boxes instead of a hard to reach weedy corner of the property.

We thought they were free loading girls taking a long time to get to laying but it turns out they prefer the wilds of their foraging areas. I have moved all the eggs into the various nesting boxes set up in the coop and will cross my fingers!

Wishing you luck. Sometimes it can be hard to change a chickens mind. Sounds like you are doing the best. Egg hunts are fun, but best left for Easter.
