Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to.

Hey, lost girls (3 quail and 2 Golden Comet hens) to summer heat of 2024, and decided to start again Spring 2025. New Year 2025 until last month, I had serious medical issues, am just able to resume some activities and I just saw this post. Glad to be back to BYC, We did get 3 hens, but not quail.

Yes thank you for reaching out. Life gets busy as we get older. Shouldn’t it be the opposite. My flock has increased from 2 hens and a roo to 13 hens. That darn chicken math. I recently got a cuckoo marans and black copper, and 2 Olive eggers , 1 being a splash. At 75 my flock is now complete.

I retired last week and am being wary of demands made on me since I "have so much free time!"

Still here. Rough year with a bad diagnosis and treatment. My girls have been my “meditation zone” during the long recovery. Missed you all.

Hello we ended up losing our other flock to animals attacking them. A fox got a few one got attacked by an eagle her eye was hurt and the next morning we lost her and we think a raccoon got in the girls hen house and took our last ones. But with a new hen house and a new run we have new babies this year 15 of them!! One got sick just today with sour crop and thanks to your wonderful articals I knew what it was and how to treat it so starting medicine in the morning to make sure it did not go down on it's own tonight!! But thanks for checking!!!

Still hanging in there, haven't been online too much. Added 20 babies to our flock this year and also started keeping honeybees.

Hello! Thank you for the update! So sorry about your previous flock. Congratulations to your new one! Good luck with that sour crop. I had a hen who had that. If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out!
