Yes, I’ve been busy! Changed the run, added another section for composting and this week’s chores are to bag it and tear down the’cage’. I overdid that - pulled my rotator cuff -it’s still in healing mode. I learned they don’t need so much space, really don’t hang out in it like I expected. I overhauled the adjacent shed/coop, keeping them in the outside coop. Inside is only storage now.
I built the front 1/2 screen, 1/2 wood so I don’t need the light now. They will put themselves up being able to see! Yay
First time in over a year, I had to dispatch a hen. Had trouble walking and constantly screaming. I cuddled her a moment before doing the deed- found crap on her head, I researched was Avian flu I think. Her liver was off-color too. No chicken vet here, just crockpot dinner for my dog. Missouri Conservation said it’s safe that way.
Hubby just retired and we’re dealing with Social Security’s BS, Medicare and setting up his work benefits while organizing our home to look at moving around the fall. So I won’t get more chicks ‘yet’ lol.
I have been fishing in spare moments.
And I finally took the plunge and traded my old Titan off.
