Cherry Eggers

Cackle Hatchery advertises these birds saying they are a Rhode Island Strain and are chosen as the darkest to be Cherry Eggers. Has anyone raised or had Cherry Eggers? Especially from Cackle Hatchery? If so what was or is your opinion on these birds, lay rate, temperament egg size?

I had cherry eggers when I was a kid from Strombergs, they dont sell them anymore. They are a cross and I guess it depends on who crosses them on how the quality will be. The cross used to be RIR and NH reds. I remember them being good chickens that lay decent for about 2 or 3 years.
