My 6 week olds spend most of their time outside doing chest bumps and fly-bys, it is so much fun to watch! And, yay, I'm glad it doesn't indicate gender!

They are the most fascinating lil things to watch. I saw mine do this a week or so ago, and I was like "Uh oh" then I realized one of the ones doing "chest bumps" was definitely a pullet by her coloring, so I figured it was a pecking order thing- I have read they start early!! I've been taking pictures of them everyday to see how much they grow- and I always started with one first, and then as I would take each one out- and then put it back in, the first little one would jump at them, and start "trouble"! Too cute! Its changed now, she's not as dominant as she was from the second we opened the box! It was almost like they started establishing pecking order on the ride here!

My Leghorn pullets are growing faster than all the other breeds, so they have an unfair advantage in the "chest bump" sweepstakes. They also initiate the "fly around the coop" races, winner takes all. They're so funny.

I have 8 , 6 week olds, 6 do the chest bumping often, but, not lengthy and one will chest bump occassionally, and one I've never seen do it, but, she's also half the size, I think she has some bantam in her gene pool.

whilst chest bumping, do only the roos fluff out their hackle feathers? or will the pullets too?
