I had no idea what a water wiggler was so I googled it and found this make-your-own on my favorite site, Instructables. So, for those of you who can't (or don't want to) buy one, here it is:

I haven't read through all 34 pages so I hope this hasn't been posted already. I thought it was pretty clever!

The water wiggler has an interior to it in which you can slide a thermometer. It simulates the inside of the egg and give you an idea of the temp inside the eggs instead of just the air temp. Air temp can vary 4-5 degrees and the temp inside the wiggler will not vary more than 1 degree in my experience. The thermometer I use is a probe type...slides right in.

Your ingenious design has singly inspired me to make my own homemade incubator. It is quite simply fabulous ! Would you kindly explain to me why you use a water wiggler ?

I have a question about the light placement MissPrissy, why didn't you opt to put it underneath the eggs/ in the center of the box instead of off to one side.

Also, I noticed that your fan doesn't blow on the water or over the water or for that matter doesn't blow longways in your bator...

and lastly, I think, I saw that you made holes along the bottom for a fresh air exchange, however, I don't understand the "exchange" part of this... my hovabator has holes along the bottom and a big one dead center up top, assumbably the hot air goes out of the hole drawing fresh air in from the bottom, how does yours do that?

I also have a small hole directly behind the fan so it can draw in fresh air. As the warm air rises, it escapes out of the top hole and the fresh air is drawn in through the bottom holes. It is MUCH easier to adjust the temp/hum with plenty of ventilation. I think since I added more vent holes, my hatches have gone up to the 90's%.
