Hello All;
I started reading this about 2 hours ago and you folks rock.. or cluck ... The homemade incubator Ms. Prissy is a super idea. And since this posting began in 07 I bet you all have had time to work out the temps / humidity issues.. I have many pieces and parts, almost enough to start one of these projects here myself. I need the thermostat, and styrofoam container but have most the other items.. I will be looking at all these postings more in the coming days and weeks... If work permits and I am not to lazy I may build one soon myself.. I had hoped that the hens would take care of this for me but they are just a year old now and well it is still to cold here I think.. anyway.. your postings here have been a treat to read and hope you all hatched many more chicks since this all began.. thanks for some wonderful ideas and TTFN...

isn't it exciting?? I've just plugged mine in for test-drive this afternoon!

Now that I've got my box, I'm seeing styro coolers all over craigslist. try the free section.

Looks good Toadbriar, I will keep an eye on your progress. I gathered some of my parts up. I wired my 12v computer fan up. Found my metal wire from a previous project. I have the lamp socket.. still need the cooler, thermostat, and temp/humidity thermometer. My brother did not want me destroying his old cooler for this project..

I've read this entire thread and am feeling quite motivated to create one of these! However I'm completely new at this whole chicken thing! What kind of thermometer is being used? Is it like a weather one or one for food or what? I've looked and all I see are wireless Acu RIte thermometers, and I was under the impression it needed wires to put into the water wiggler??? Any help would be much appreciated

needless to say the story doesnt end here....

i had just finished it 4 days before a large hatch was due of quail......and had adjusted and got temp right....

i walked in last night to find that the old March Turn X incubator's fan motor had failed and temp was down to 82....
and of course it had to fail During LockDown
