Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

If you put the eggs in at 8pm, then day 1 was the 30th at 8pm, and day 21 would be 5/20, 8pm. If it were me, I would stop turning in the evening of the 17th, and bump the humidity to 60-70%. Depending on how your temps have been, you should start seeing pips on the 20-21st.

Can't wait to see your babies!

Hey there Nospringchick;

I have 6 black sex-links
6 Buff Orfingtons
9 Domineckers

The turning rods work like a dream. I just need to work out my temperature issues. I hope that I am ok .... Not sure about the size of the water weasle that I have.

99.1 to 100.1 is good, right........?

Did you use a "heat sink"? A bottle filled with water to help regulate the temp when you have to open and turn? I found that that really stabilized my temperature....and also....I moved my bator to the basement (even though it's cold 61 degrees), however it is draftfree and doesn't vary, even a degree. That really helped.

I made one of Miss Prissy's Chick bators tonight, but it doesn't have a fan yet. I have an old PC fan and I tried wiring it to an old adapter I found but nothing happened. I switched the wires and still got nothing.

Any ideas on what my problem could be?

Also, Walmart and the Dollar Store both let me down on the Water Wiggler. I tried making my own but it leaked all over...so I am still in search of a wiggler.

Unless you switch the power from AC(like in your house) to DC, like in your computer, it probably won't work. You could get an AC fan from Radio Shack or something; they do cost a bit more than the DC fans...

If you still have the old scrapped computer you could salvage the power supply., its a regulated supply with +12v -12v +5v -5v just use a red and black wire for one of the hard drives in it.

I'm sorry I sound like a big dummy but when it comes to the inside workings of a computer I know nothing. I know only how to turn it on and plunk the keyboard, lol. That whole statement was greek to me and I am not good with electrical wiring.

I was wondering if I could find a little battery operated personal fan to stick in there, would that work?

Right now the temps over the last couple hours has gone from 109 down to 84 so it's all out of whack. That's not the wiggler temp though so maybe that would read better if I had one to put in there.

Maybe the temps are all over because there is no fan?

ohh Party City! That's a great idea! Thank you shmooborp! Maybe they will even have a little bitty personal fan.

I was reading somewhere that a lower watt bulb may help with my huge temp fluctuations too. I will have to see if a 15 watt bulb works better.

I hope this works. I bid on an auction for some eggs and I didn't really think I was going to win but guess what.....
