Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

I did think about adding a hole and shoot to be able to add water without opening the box.

The egg turner I am thinking about, too! It might not be an auto turner, but what I am trying to noodle through could be manually turned from the outside of the box.

Give me a little time to find the pieces and parts and experiment and I know by the time we get hatching eggs I'll have it worked out!

Miss Prissy,
For the water issue, use some thin clear tubing (can get it by the foot at most hardware stores) and run it through a small hole in the side. You will have to get a very small funnel that can fit on to the end and voila! Don't know what to do about turning the eggs from the outside---anxious to see what you come up with.

Here are some pictures of what I did. I took a 20 oz. coke bottle and added a 90 deg tubing fitting, put some hose on it and ran it through the side of the bator into the water container. Just squeeze the bottle to fill the container inside.

WOOHOO....i tell you what...we could all go into business making these darn things...if we can come up with an egg turner...and I may have an idea!, we will be making cheap baters with all the functions of the expensive ones!

Eric,

My temperature is holding consistantly. The thermostat is doing its job and cycling the bulb on and off as needed. I have to make a tiny adjustment to bring the temp down about .5 to .75 of a degree to keep the internal water wiggler temp at 99.5. Right now it has been running since completion and is holding at a constant 100.8 in the water wiggler. The air temp cycles between 98 and 102F. At 98 the thermostat turns the light back on. At 102 it turns it off.

I am VERY pleased with my version of an incubator.

Where I live is very humid now. With no water at all in the incubator the humidity is holding at 64%.

I was thinking about cutting holes & inserting a pair of rubber gloves from each side and then taping them in.....

I have an idea on an egg turner...
old egg carton - cut in 1/2 - cut bottoms from egg holders & place on top ( with middle cut out )....then alternate which side I raise several times a day - never opening the lid.....

I'm just gathering my supplies for my incubator....got my free Walmart fishing worm cooler today. Still need to get the lamp kit, but I think I have everything else....

I may try the glove thing on an old stryofoam cooler I'm going to play around with.
