Chic worries

In addition to our flock of 4 (adorable) hens we have 4 chics that my daughter is raising in a large dog crate in her kitchen. The chics ate all growing but I am concerned about our little barred rock. She is eating and gaining weight but seems to often have mucous coming from her beak. She also seems sleepy as she usually keeps her eyes closed. Do I need to be alarmed? What to do???

Do you have a photo of her?

It's sounds like a respiratory illness. I have linked a good article about it so that you can she if she matches the symptoms and then treat accordingly :

Whenever you suspect a bird is ill, you need to remove it from the others. That prevents illnesses from spreading and gives the sick one a chance to rest without being disturbed.
