Thank you so much! It sounds like a nutritional deficiency then. Should I expect to see more problems with the next brood too?
The chick is alive, as of this afternoon. DH said she was walking around and he helped her drink water.
So, the hen is on three other eggs that should have hatched Sunday or Monday. At what point do we give up and pull them out? If they're a lost cause, I'd rather the hen spent more time assisting the chick. Unless her mobility will allow her to kill it of course.
