The worst part was my enabler was with me. My brother in law is the one who is building my coop, and he keeps encouraging me to go bigger - I'm now at a 12 X 16 (and that's what we're staying with, since all the pieces are in my backyard).
When I saw chicks, my brother in law just walked away - didn't say no amy, you have too many, you don't need more. Just walked away. I blame this all on him.....
I painstakingly planned out my coop and run to house 6 chickens to be very comfy - because thats all the eggs we would need. I could probably squeeze in 12 if I had to........right now I have 16 chicks and have 6 more on order........(sigh)I keep telling myself I will downsize and sell some when they are older. I had no idea how much I would love these little guys! Thank god the kids are on my side!!! Daddy is going to have to add on to the coop!!
Well, in addition to the over 60 that I mentioned before, I brought home 4 grown bantams today & don't even know what they are. A relative was talking about selling them to someone to eat because he wanted them out of his way, so I brought them home with me.
I will have to find homes for them, but I didn't want them to be someone's supper.
