We have two baby chicks in the same box. They are about a week old, maybe a day apart This morning the younger and smaller chick was found on her side in in the shavings. The water bowl was full of shavings so she may have not been able to get water. She is normally quite vigorous even though small..Right now we are using a cloth to give her sugar water and a chicken supplement.

She is still chirping and moving however she has a bump on her chest and her movement is labored. Bump appears full of liquid.

it sounds like she has an issue with her crop ( or the pre stomach of the chick ) It could be sour or partially impacted..im hoping you didnt force any food or water into her bc if she was too weak and couldnt metabolize it then it is now just sitting in the crop......I dont think shes going to make it..sometimes you can turn the chick upside down and expel the crop contents but they rarely survive and only very experienced people should ever try that.....the most youd want to do is dip their beaks a few times or maybe offer some sugar water DROP by DROP but they have to be willingly drinking...I also cant imagine how you use a cloth to administer water......separate the chick ( bc the other chick will overhear being a week ahead ) and keep sick chick extra warm ( 95*F) and provide adequate lighting to encourage her to eat...please dont think me insensitive but judging from your description I really dont think she is going to make it regardless....but if you want to be pro-active and try to help her then try what I said......
