chick and cat run in

my cat must have slipped under the chicken wire top of our brooder last night while we were reading to the kids - heard loud "PEEP PEEP PEEP" ran out and saw baby chick head coming out of cat's mouth. Scared the cat, and she dropped the chick. She is fine except for a small wound on top of her wing (where its connected to her body). Since this morning she has been walking around, eating, drinking perfectly normal - but I am wondering if I should put anything on the wound (neosporin?) or just let it heal?

Extra security has been added to the roof of the brooder.

Awww... Poor chick. We have 4 cats and I have one cat that I have to watch out for. We have the brooder in an extra large dog kennel and boarded up the sides on the bottom of the kennel, so the cats can't reach their paws in.

Hopefully your chick will be okay.

I would probably leave off the neosporin--animals tend to groom it off in pretty short order. It's non-toxic to dogs and cats, but I don't know about birds.

I think you would need to clean the wound. Cat's wounds can easily get infected. It is OK to use neosporin or similar type anti-biotic as long as it does not contain any "caine" type pain reliever, like lidocaine, benzocaine etc. "caines" are toxic to birds.
