Well A adolescent hen decided to try to hatch chicks in the woods.
I didn't know until earlier I heard peeping and went to investigate. She hatched most of the eggs and was walking around (IN THE OPEN) with them.I caught the babies and put them in a brooder set up with a light, food, water and they seem to be doing pretty good.I didn't put the mom in with them because she is wild and i don't want the chicks to act like her.
ANYWAYS...She left an egg behind that was just pipping. The ants found it and were about to start eating it when i found it.They weren't fire ants but some black kind. But i brought the little egg inside and had to open it up to get all the ants out.But i have the chick in my incubator,Until he finishes drying.
From what i can tell he has absorbed all of his yoke and seems perky. So do you think iv done what i can do or is there anything else I can do for him?
