chick bedding

i want to put bedding in my coop as i think one of my chics is cold hay or straw i know one of these causes breathing difficulties cant remember which one

Pine shavings would definately stink less, and be easier to clean up.

Cedar is what causes the problems.

I tried straw and switched to pine shavings which I like better but the chickens didn't seem to care.
I've heard that straw is better than hay as hay was said to attract mice.
