ok, so I was holding one of my cochins tonight. she was peeping, running around my neck. she would like rub her beak all in my hair, peeping the whole time. then would come and do it again on my chin and cheek. she was going nuts. Is this a happy behavior? she seems so excited....I am hoping it was a good excited, not a scared excited.

If she was climbing up your shoulders and peeking under your hair, trying to scramble up for a higher view and peeping loudly, that's a scared behavior. If she is stopping to nestle quietly, then climbs a little higher, rests, and readjusts, with a soft, trilling peep, that's a content peep. At least, that's how it's been with my chicks during the first two weeks of hand training.

My Polish have done that since they were day olds. Now laying they still like to be picked up so they can snuggle into my neck.

at first she seemed scared. But she was up there for a while. after about 15min, she was doing that "trilling" and there would be periods of nesting between the running around my neck and rubbing her beak all over me. So I guess she was happy!
