Hi all! I’m rather new to the baby chick scene and I have a few questions! It seems that the chicks are play fighting? I was wondering if this is actually what they’re doing and if chicks do this or if they’re deciding the pecking order (lol). I searched the forum but didn’t find anything exact. For the most part it’s just one of my chicks (heihei) that primarily picks on the others, but some others do it too. Heihei is the larger EE In the pictures.

Play fighting is about the pecking order....kinda.
As long as they have enough space to get away and no one is bleeding or being pinned down and beaten unmercilessly let them have at it.

Are the smaller chicks bantams or younger?
Ahh that’s what I figured, there’s plenty of room in there for them!
Yes, the smaller chicks are bantams.

Yeah watch for bleeding. The blood is a gamechanger with chicks. Chickens are cannibals and if they get a taste for blood you'll have a whole new problem.
But yes chicks do things like that
