My third sandpiper chick hatched and it has a yellow thing with vains hanging of it or out of it. The chick looks healthy and peeping and moving around but I don't know if it will be alright. I hope it will be okay. Thanks for any information.

Need a picture, please. Close up view. I suspect the chick hasn't completely absorbed the yolk. Can you isolate the chick & keep it from moving around? It's important that the yolk/veins don't get dirty, damaged, etc. I've seen several people put the chick/ling into a small cup. I'll tag some members with more experience so they can give better info for proper care.

That sounds like the yolk. You need to set it back in the bottom half of the sell and prop it upright in a small cup in the incubator and leave it like that until it finishes absorbing the yolk. Keep the humidity very high so it doesn't dry out.

Do this ASAP. You do not want it to rupture that yolk.

I know I would have posted a picture but I don't have a phone right now. But it's gone now so maybe it was just hatch leftovers. It was like a very small dark yellow thing with little red vanes through it. But it's gone now.
