Chick Born With...

One chick was born with one gummy eye. It's now in the brooder. It appears to be gummy with yolk. Can I just wash this out? (I'm hoping I can get away with asking this question in this category because it just hatched).

i would take a q-tip and wash it off and then see if it will open up

I wonder if it should be separated? It wouldn't be easy to separate another brooder, but maybe possible.

I have had this happen before. I used a warm, moist cotton ball and moistened the area until it softened up enough to be wiped off.

Oh, good! I was preparing for the worst. I used warm gauze (the chick wasn't a big fan of the procedure). It opened it briefly and then resealed, so I'll do it again in an hour or so. Thanks for info!
