I have a baby chick that I made a prior post about having spayed legs. Her legs are still odd, but I see improvement, but i have had a new issue for the past couple of days. She’s been panting and has clicky lungs. Her breathing seems to be worse when she’s in her bin and I’m not holding her. She is the only chick I have. I don’t know if getting her a buddy might maybe help with her will when she’s alone? but I don’t want another chick getting lung issues if this is contagious or something. I guess my question is what can I do to help her? I have an air purifier next to her bin and I’ve been putting vet RX on her beak and under her wings, but I don’t know what else to do. Her breathing really concerns me. If anyone has an advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Below is a video of her breathing.

She looks hot. What's the temperature in the brooder?

Can you provide a larger space so she can get away from the heat?

i’m not sure what the temperature is. I’ll try to get a thermostat today, but I got her a larger bin and a friend but at this point I don’t think it’s the heat making her gasp. This is a new video I took of her last night.

I'm sorry she's not improving.

How long have you had her hobbled? Can she walk without being hobbled if she's on a flat surface and not having to navigate the shavings?

What's her crop like?

Are you giving the B-Complex vitamins as suggested in your other thread?

I think I'd still raise the lamp a bit. See that she's eating/drinking. The gasping is concerning, I'm afraid she may be failing to thrive since this has been going on a while.

She’s been hobbled for a week. She has frog like thighs that kept widening her vet wrap hobble but she was walking even making turns! But her thighs looked very wrong while standing. So about three days ago I made her a new hobble using a 1/2” straw piece and a 1 1/2” Mini hair tie. The new hobble fixed her weird thighs but now shes back to not being able to really walk let alone make turns. If I take it off she can walk but her legs revert and her stance just gets wider and wider.

Her crop is nice and full she eats well but won’t walk over to food or water her self. She will stand a bit while eating though.

Yes I’ve been giving her 1/4 Vit B Complex crushed up on some scrambled eggs every day. She typically eats it all very well

I’ll move the heat lamp up a bit more. I think she’s definitely a little stunted she has like day old bby wings. Even her 2 day old sister has more wing feathers. As long as she keeps trying I believe in her I’ve gotten a worse failing to thrive chick to survive and she’s spunky (but heck if she doesn’t have me worrying day and night)
