I have always liked the older style of brooders vs the heat lamps. The old brooders were usually a metal square type brooder with a heating element and wafer type heater control not unlike the old incubators. I like these old brooders because of the fact that don't use as much electricity as a heat lamp. The chicks can run under them to get warm and still run back out for feeding and exercise. I haven't found anything comparable on the market that sells new. Let me know if there is another better method for brooding the chicks.
