Chick brought back from the dead

iam glad your chicks made it!! last night i went to a small animal sale . any chicks brought to the sale are kept in the office until auction time.there was a box of chicks 10 in all. they came up for auction and nobody bid much, i ended up paying 2.50 , got them took them to the car, opened the box and 4 were dead ,they had gotten too cold. look i my stub from the auction and it said 5 were dead when they auctioned them. i was disgusted at the lack of care some people have for there chicks. needless to say i immediately took them out of the box and put them next to me in my coat. the one they said was just barely hanging in. i rubbed him and held him in my hands!! we stopped to get soething to eat, and my hubby said how are going to eat with the chicks in my coat...i said watch, sat down unzipped my coat, rolled up my swaet shirt into a basket and tucked in to it.....needless to say when our waitress came over and heard peeping she was little curious, so i showed her my chicks..lol she was amazed how small they were. before finished our dinner, the peeping stopped and all 6 chicked curled up and were sleeping. got home and put into the brooder....still wondering if they would make it! got up this morning and couldn't believe that all chicks were eating drinking and running around:D. so never give up as long as there is mov ement they can be saved!!!

Thanks for sharing your story with me! I can't believe they wouldn't have put in a hot water bottle or SOMETHING! Glad to hear they are doing well. I'm just lucky that I brought it in to let the kids see what happened because honestly at first impression, there was no movement to a wet, half hatched chick and it was cold! I think from poking, stroking and moving it with the kids, it was warmed and stimulated to fight! I think all creatures deserve an advocate! Good luck with your newest chicks!
