Chick can't stand or walk, but kind of tries.. HELP

We just got back from the vet. He said not to splint it & to just let nature take over. It may heal itself, it may not. So I guess we'll just see how this goes. Another woman there recommend me to kill it. There's no way I'm going to kill this little chick just because its a little different. It gets around just fine

I like your attitude towards all this! Like I said I have had chicks like this and sometimes they just need time! She is a very adorable chick!

And guess who's on her feet a little better today. She's wobbling everywhere. You were right! I'm such a worry wart. Lol

Yipee!!! I am so glad to hear that! It is very easy to worry about things that you care so much about! Keep up the good work!

Next is trying to make her, now named Paisley, eat! I keep shining a red laser pointer into everything but she just spits it out. She really likes doing things her own way! Lol

Paisley is a lovely name! To teach mine to eat I sprinkle some in front of them and then pretend to scratch it like a mother hen does with my finger. That usually works especially if you combine that with a little bawk bawk sound. Sounds silly I know. The things we do for our little guys!

Your very welcome! Keep me posted on what happens! I feel like I love your chick almost as much as you!

I also have a chick that won't walk or stand.. He or she hatched last night so it's still in the incubator. I think she hatched a little early.. I don't know the date the eggs were set though as I was on holiday when the hen started to brood it. But this chick still had a tiny bit of yolk sack exposed. Today it's gone though. Today the chick has started to cheep and is trying to move around. It's possibly just weak after a stressful hatch. But it doesn't stop me from worrying. I'm a vet nurse and am wondering if a steroid injection would help..

Regards, Dan
