I have 6 week old chicks I hatched from eggs. One is chirping loudly today and sitting in the corner looking lethargic. They were all fine yesterday. What would cause a chick to suddenly get sick like this and is there anything I can do? They are on medicated starter and have not had contact with any other animals.

Is she eating? Chicks at that age don't have any fat supplies to draw upon and can become lethargic due to lack of energy reserves. You can try giving her some high protein food such as canned or live mealworms or canned crickets you can get from pet stores (sold as reptile food) These canned insects are 20% protein and 70% moisture so it can help with dehydration if that's a problem.

Unfortunately the chick died very quickly. I keep the feed and water filled but I guess it's possible it wasn't eatting and I didn't notice. Not sure why it wouldn't be eatting. It looks fat and healthy and I didnt see anything obviously wrong with it.
