Chick Coloration Questions...

?? I purchased him and his matching hen( Sweet pictured w/ Sour below ) as chicks from the Murray McMurray hatchery as pure bred BLRWs.

" Splash " , in this instance , refers to BLWs getting two copies of the blue gene , diluting much of the black lacing to white . Getting one copy dilutes it to blue . Blue Laced Wyandottes do not breed true , and half the chicks from the mating of two will be blue laced , a quarter will be black laced , the other quarter splash laced . Two Splash laced will produce all splash laced , but splash laced on black laced will produce 100% blue laced .
ETA: I should have typed Black or Blue Laced Red Wyandottes i.e. BLRWs

I've tried to use the coloration gene thingamajig... I cannot figure the stupid thing out!!!! So, I just wait to see what I get when the chicks hatch..

I agree!

To Everyone: I have much info to write down!! I try to keep files on my computer of all breeding info for my critters, but learn something new everyday! keep the info coming, PLEASE!
