Chick coop connected to adult coop

You got cardboard doors too???

I keep looking at my set up, just waiting and hoping that a hen will go broody. I have 4 options for creating a broody suite complete with private outdoor run! I will also be utilizing cardboard if I use several of my options!:old

My cardboard is lining a dog kennel to A. Keep chicks in
more importantly
B. Stop 3 particular hens from eating the chicks. They tried. Witches.

I had an evil witch who tried to drag a chick through fencing by the toe. Wimpy broody hen who would not stand up to anybody. Several of the nasty biddies got their jollies from separating Mama from babies.

They are so mean! I had to loosen a bit of shell on a chick that was a little stuck and these 3 were right there trying to get that chick as it hatched in my hand.

This is just a 7 month old cochin pullet, hard to imagine her protecting these chicks. I'm going to build a better set up tomorrow. Built a tractor today. Busy spring!
