Hello everyone, Recently my araucana rooster started crowing at 10 weeks!, Is that normal?. He started doing a small quiet crow every now and then. And now I heard him crow repeatedly 5 times in a row!. Here he is:

that is completely fine. My Buff Orpington also started crowing at a young age. He's probably testing out the waters before he starts going into fully mature crows. :)

I've heard people talk about they knew they had a rooster because he started trying to crow at a week old. Its not unusual, at 10 weeks. Cockerels mature before pullets, so don't be surprised to see him trying to mount your girls soon.

I had two 8-week old Silkie Roos start trying to crow at that age. They set each other off, too. Sounded like rusty door hinges.

A couple years back, I had a Silver Cuckoo Marans crow around ten weeks. It was a shrill, squeaky crow, but he belted out all the right notes. He also was mounting his brooder mate, a pullet of the same age. She had no clue what he was trying to pull.

He turned out to be extremely aggressive when he started maturing at four months. He is no longer with the flock.

Is it always like that when a rooster crows early?
