Our feed store has them already. Last weekend we picked up 5 silkies, 4 leghorns, 2 game hens and an Australorp chick .Last Sunday morning we had a leghorn die, so I went to the store and bought a replacement. When I went back in yesterday for some layer pellets, the kid say's "I was suppose to give you a replacement chick at no cost, we have a 48 hour guarantee on the chicks, so you can get another if you'd like!" I went over and checked the tubs and then told the kid that my wife would kill me if I came home with another chick. So he knocked $2.50 off the bag of feed. Yhe amusing thing about this is that I was headed to the feed store last weekend to get some chicks, wife decided to go with me. She asked me on the ride there how many I was planning on getting. I said about 6 to add to our flock of 8 layers. She told me we didn't need that many, get 2 maybe 4 at the most. We walk in and they have Silkies and she went totally chick nuts., She has wanted to get Silkies since we started our flock 2 years ago. So she picks 5 silkies and then starts droolling over all the "babies", and starts picking chicks out for me. I'm the one who had to put the brakes on her to stop. I now have to build a 'Silkie Coop" for her. I am pleased to see her get the bug, and take an interest in them. She has started to name them all. I need to take her to the feed store more often, maybe I'll get those goats I've been wanting.
