Chick didnt hatch but was still alive

I am so upset with myself.

I had Rhode Island Reds and French Cooper Marans in to hatch. Absolute disaster...
They were due to hatch yest, nothing happening today so I boobed them in water and I candled ... no signs of life so I gently cracked them open.

In one, a chick was only about 2/3s of the size of the egg but it was still alive! Obv it didnt last long. And I feel like I killed it

I did that too, with a duckling. It died in my hands. Don’t beat yourself up, mistakes are part of the learning process. Hopefully you will have better success with your next hatch.

Thank u. So gutted. A couple wobbled so i popped them back in incubator.

My last two hatches have been awful. I buy eggs and they get posted to me. Im collected the next lot to see if its helps
