Chick disappeared!

Hi everyone I got two chicks and they were fine until just now for some reason one of them disappeared!

A little more information would be needed to try to help you (if you are looking for help) in figuring out what has become of your chick. For starters:
Where were the chicks being kept - were they in a brooder, in a coop with an enclosed run or were they free ranging?
How old are your birds?

They are day olds and were in a coop underneath a duck that they think is there mother and when I checked on them it was gone and the other chick was under the duck and I was thinking of a cat but there aren't any I know of and anyway wouldn't the cat have taken both chicks if not the duck? And the hole that the chickens go into is very low to the ground under a tree and seems very unlikely for a bird so I really don't know!

It sounds like they are fairly well out in the open, then, which means that the list of possible things that have happened to the chick is pretty much endless....and, no, a predator is not likely to have taken both chicks and/or the duck. If a predator is to blame this was a crime of opportunity and would have been a "snatch and grab" job where the first thing that could be gotten ahold of was picked up and run off with - this is not the sort of scenario in which something is going to take the time to capture multiple targets.
