Chick Dust Bath??

I've got one of the chicks this evening when gave them fresh shavings that was burrowing down in the shavings. She would burrow out a little spot and sit in it (almost like she's nesting) then preen herself. The others would come by playing and she'd look at them like "Can't you see I'm busy here?" Just want to make sure this is normal behavior and not something wrong.

Sound normal to me. She was just using what was available to take her dust bath.

Sounds normal to me - how old are your chicks? and what do the others do with the new fresh shavings?

I ask because mine love a new clean batch of pine shavings , they pick at it looking for new stuff and grab the darker longer shavings and run around with them like they found something great. Mine has scratch it all over the place, especially into the feeder and water bottle - argh

Very normal. Chickies love their dust baths! I remember Kooshie taking one on a cinderblock when she was 4 days old...
