Chick eggs moving in incubator but still no hatch!!!!

10 minutes of cooling will not harm them at all. If they have survived that low temp and had a chance to get warm after that, a little cooling can't be a problem for them, I think. I test the egg temp just by hand to feel the difference.

I use one of those hand held thermometers that is digital and you just point it at the egg and a red dot shines on the egg .I don't know the name they are called.

Yes, an infrared thermometer would be a better way to measure temp of an individual egg, if you have one at hand.

Put them all in one place, let them cool for a while and check them by hand, you should feel the difference. I can't think of any other way to measure the temp of an egg.

If you get your incubator back up to temp the live eggs should be at temp within a hour. By then you will feel a difference in temp between the ones that are alive and the ones that are not doing the hand method. Don't forget to raise the humidity up to 65-70% on the last 3 days so the chicks won't get stuck to the shells. 99.5-99.9 degrees will be the best final temp in a circulated air incubator.

Yes I use this too, you can tell the difference after about a minute! It really doesn’t take long at all!
