Hey everyone, I got a shipment today from Meter. The post office messed up and left them sitting in a warehouse for an extra day. When I got the box, it was clear that it had been mishandled. I opened it, and all the chicks looked extremely lethargic. One chick in particular had her eyes crusted shut, was barely breathing, flopped down in the corner, completely silent, and had her beak wide open. I brought them home, and the other two chicks started to perk up. They all have pasty butt so I have to deal with that. But that one chick is still not doing good. She finally started peeping occasionally and she opened one eye and then closed it again. However, she’s still really lethargic and she can’t stand up. I gave her some save-a-chick water by hand. She drank some of it. I’m not really sure what else to do or how to help her.

Best thing to do is keep her warm and make sure that she gets some electrolytes in her, so it's good that you gave her save-a-chick. Just keep an eye on her....
As with the other ones, make sure that you get the pasty butt taken care of right away!

Good Luck!:fl
Please keep me updated

Thank you! I’ll definitely post updates.

Update: One of my new little babies just passed away... it’s absolutely awful. I’ll definitely be writing an email to my local post office.

Awe! I know how upsetting that is! Actually just yesterday, my white bearded silkie named Star got taken by a predator. He was 5 months old and such a sweetheart He had the most hilarious personality. I loved him so much, I would even bring him inside to snuggle with me everyday. So you could imagine my horror when I saw his pure white feathers spread across the yard. Just an hour before that he was inside with me. The worst is when you feel like it was your fault. I felt like I should have been out there but I wasn't... Everyone always tells be that it happens when you have livestock... But I felt like someone just stole my innocent baby's life. I sobbed for a long time, I still just can't believe that my precious Star is gone:hit

Aw, I’m so so sorry! I can’t even imagine, but just know it’s definitely not your fault. I really hope you feel better, and just know that you were an amazing mama to your little Star :(

One of my chicks has a problem with lethargy and i gave her some water with sugar and probiotics in it it seemed to perk her up a little. Praying she'll get better!
