Chick eye pecked really badly

Hi everyone,
I went today to our local feed store who just got in a bunch of chicks. As we were getting our meat birds and picking out a few others the lady at the store showed me she had a chick that had gotten its eye pecked on quite badly from other chicks. She offered to give me the chick for free if I wanted to try to help it… now, I’ve never care for an injured chick… so if you have any advice I’d greatly appreciate it! Ive named this little girl Hope

I would coat the eye with antibiotic ointment and eventually try to remove the debris as it loosens/moistens up. Good luck with the chick.

Did the chick eye ever heal? I bought a chick from the our local IFA and the eye looked the same. I’m new to backyard chickens and I’ve just been cleaning it with saline and Neosporin. Any tips?
