Chick feed- When do you feed the medicated feed?

My local feed store special orders the non-med start and grow, He actually said their was someone else in my area asking for it too.

You can use the starter until they are of laying age or if you use grower/finisher, until you start that. To tell you the truth, when i got my first chick, all i ever fed her was laying feed, from when she was two weeks old until know. She is healthy as ever but i'd rather feed the medicated feed just to be sure.

I would probably feed non-medicated if I could find any. They look at me like I have two heads when I ask for that around here. I always end up treating brooder-raised chicks for cocci with Corid after they are on the ground at about four weeks old, but the chicks raised by a broody hen never seem to get it. They are on the ground their first week of life and build immunity slowly from exposure.

I don't feed medicated either. We just don't have it around here. As long as it's not too warm, humid, rainy I normally don't have a problem with cocci. I do keep a bag of Corid on hand, just in case of an outbreak...which is few and far between.

I just use Food Grade DE. and ACV in water. No pesticides or herbicides in yard. Well I quess if you have chickens you don't need either.

you give them DE when they are chicks? I have a sickly week old chick. I'm giving her poly-vy-sol, and yogurt. The feed stores are closed today so I was wondering if I could give her some DE in water?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
