Does anyone see a problem with feeding 4 week old chicks a little bread now and then? Was curious as they are not getting any grit in their diet and would like to hear from the experienced out there. Thanks!

Hey Spatcher, How Are you? I have almost 5 week old RIR's and every now and then I do give them a half of a piece of bread and they love it. Mine are going outside now and I think they are getting some grit from the run, but I do sprinkle a bit on thier little bowl of food in the morning, they are crazy chicks, they think if I put thier crumbles in a shallow dish and not the feeder they are getting a treat and they gobble up grit and all, I think bread won't hurt your little ones as long as you are just givng like a treat. Thanks Trudy-thats what I did, just gave them a little and they went crazy for it. Also put a bit of grit in their feed dish in case they know what its for. I do believe they are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Thanks for the post!
