Do they just eat the chick food from tsc? How long do they eat that for? Do I need to feed them other things? I see a lot about electrolytes. I get my chicks next week and am sooo excited but feel a little unprepared!

Chick starter feed is good; I feed Purina, but you will want to check the manufactured by date on the feed bags, and get fresh, not older than four weeks. Several brands will be fine, so go with fresh. That's all baby chicks need! Over time, you can supply grit, and SMALL quantities of other stuff, as treats. Mary

They'll do just fine on chick starter for the first few weeks. Electrolytes are simply minerals that are already in the chick feed so no real benefit to doubling it up. Some people like to start them with ACV added to the water for it's probiotic benefit. I go a step farther and put them on fermented feed from the start. It has eliminated pasty butt and reduced feed waste and consumption. By about 2-3 weeks, I introduce fruits and vegetables as boredom busters but keep the starter as their primary feed source.
